Zeral compounds from PMC Polymer Products are for fire retardant plastic applications where the OEM would prefer a non-halogenated formulation.  Designing compounds with non-halogenated FR can be challenging because the relatively high loading of non-halogenated FR will negatively impact many physical properties. For example, the Izod impact strength of a PP compound with 30% non-halogenated FR is significantly less than the Izod impact strength of the PP resin by itself.  We design Zeral compounds to meet the desired flammability standard while optimizing physical properties to the needs of the application.

The selection a non-halogenated flame retardant system also requires careful consideration because there are numerous options of non-halogenated flame retardants commercially available.  The large variety available non-halogenated flame retardants results from the specificity of non-halogenated FR; there isn’t a “one size fits all” chemistry for all applications.  PMC Polymer Products has an extensive working knowledge of non-halogenated FR and we will develop a compound formulation to best meet the needs of the application.  The optimal compound solution may even be a blend of different non-halogenated flame retardants and a blend of different resins.
